Representative Oelslager Supports Measure to Renovate Local Communication Tower

This week, State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) as a member of the State Controlling Board approved a local measure of nearly $90,000 to assist in renovations and improvements to a local patrol communications tower.

“I’m happy to use my capacity on the Controlling Board in support of funding on a local measure that will go towards assisting our Department of Public Safety and State Highway Patrol,” said Oelslager.

The measure approved includes $87,369 to contract with a group of renovations and improvements on patrol communication towers, including one in Massillon of Stark County. The request for the initiative was made by the Department of Public Safety and the State Highway Patrol.

After inspections, current patrol communication towers were determined to need repairs to meet safety codes per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for May 3.
