Representative Oelslager Applauds Senate Passage of Rent, Utility Assistance Legislation
State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) applauds this week’s Senate passage of House Bill 167, which provides millions of dollars for rent and utility assistance to Ohioans across the state. Oelslager led the bill through the House as the primary sponsor of the legislation.
“I am very pleased with the due diligence over in the Senate on swiftly passing this utility and rental aid we’re providing Ohioans who desperately need it due to financial burdens from the pandemic,” said Oelslager. “I’m proud to have had the opportunity to help push this bill through both chambers, and I anticipate it being signed into law.”
Under the bill, it appropriates $465 million to the Development Services Agency (DSA) to fund an emergency rental assistance program for the purpose of both rental and utility assistance.
Earlier this month, the House also unanimously approved House Bill 167 as Oelslager spoke to the legislation during its April 15 voting session.
The bill now heads to the governor to be signed into law.
