Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple pieces of legislation.
Each bill is highlighted below:
- Recognizing the importance of perinatal mental health: House Concurrent Resolution 16 will bring awareness to the importance of perinatal mental health.
- Establish Ohio Ireland Trade Commission (67-21): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 195 will create the Ohio-Ireland Trade Commission to advance the economic, educational, and cultural relationship between Ohio and Ireland.
- Prohibit installing tracking device or app without consent (66-25): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Sub. Senate Bill 100 will prohibit the installation of an electronic tracking device on someone else’s property without the other person’s consent.
- Allow military to participate in homeownership savings program (90-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 257 will modify the Ohio Homebuyer Plus program by expanding eligibility for the savings program to include active-duty military members who reside in another state but are stationed in Ohio.
- Authorize enhanced homestead exemption for certain homeowners (78-11): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 274 will establish an enhanced homestead of $50,000 for certain long-term homeowners who have lived in their homes for twenty years or more.
- Modify income tax deductions for 529 plans and ABLE accounts (90-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 125 will raise the annual deduction limit for married, joint filers for contributions to state 529 plans and ABLE savings accounts and index the annual deduction limits to inflation.
