Oelslager Highlights Recently Passed Legislation

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple pieces of legislation. 

Each bill is highlighted below: 

  • Designate Rutherford B. Hayes Day (90-0): Senate Bill 62 will designate October 4th as “Rutherford B. Hayes Day.”
  • Regards authority of advanced practice registered nurses (89-1): Sub. Senate Bill 196 will modernize Ohio law governing advanced practice registered nurses.
  • Enacts the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act (84-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Sub. Senate Bill 237 will combat “Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation,” expediting the process of dismissal for these cases.
  • Regards driver's license suspension law; financial responsibility (87-4): Sub. Senate Bill 37 will make changes to driver’s license suspension penalties that relate to drug abuse offenses and failure to provide proof of insurance. 
  • Provide inmates with state ID cards, education documentation (86-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Sub. Senate Bill 198 will require the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and Ohio Department of Youth Services to provide an eligible inmate with necessary identification documents to assist in obtaining employment once released from prison.
  • Revise the building inspection law (86-0): Sub. Senate Bill 41 will make Ohio’s building inspection process more efficient by allowing for expedited appeals.
