Oelslager Highlights Legislation Recently Signed Into Law
COLUMBUS — State Representative Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) announces several pieces of legislation that were recently signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine.
House Bill 462 creates the offense of “swatting.” This legislation will prohibit a person from falsely reporting misleading information to law enforcement with the intention of creating an emergency response. It also increases the salaries for members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
House Bill 23 will help peace officers and emergency medical personnel identify and interact with people with dementia. Additionally, the bill increases the maximum allowable age for new state highway patrol troopers from 35 to 40 years old.
Lastly, Senate Bill 33 expands the income tax deduction for contributions to 529 college savings plans established by other states, rather than only for contributions made to Ohio’s plans.
Oelslager proudly voted yes on the bills noted above.
“I’m pleased these pieces of legislation made their way to the finish line,” said Oelslager. “These laws will help make Ohio a more attractive state to live and work.
