Rep. Baker Condemns Passage of Anti-LGBTQ+ Legislation
COLUMBUS– State Rep. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati) today denounced the passage of House Bill (HB) 68, which would ban gender-affirming care for minors as well as ban transgender athletes from playing on the sports teams that align with their gender identity.
“It is critical that we, as policymakers, support healthcare providers and their ability to practice according to evidence and established best practices,” said Rep. Baker. “I stand with the LGBTQ+ community in firm opposition to these attacks by the legislature.”
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center was recently ranked the number one children’s hospital in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report. Despite this, the legislature today made strides to take away the ability for healthcare providers in Ohio to practice medicine based on scientific facts.
Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation such as HB 68 further stigmatizes vulnerable groups and jeopardizes Ohio’s ability to be a welcoming and safe state for all.
