Bill to Designate Ohio Nursing Assistants Week Introduced by Reps. Baker, Brewer
COLUMBUS – State Reps. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati) and Darnell Brewer (D-Cleveland) today gave sponsor testimony before the Ohio House Health Provider Services Committee on House Bill (HB) 188, legislation that would designate the second full week in June as Ohio Nursing Assistants Week.
“Nursing assistants are essential to the operations of healthcare systems, providing both physical and emotional support and care to patients,” said Rep. Baker. “As a nurse myself, I cannot overstate the importance of their role working alongside healthcare professionals to deliver the best care possible.”
“As a community health worker, I can also speak to the importance of nursing assistants. During my time working with the elderly and the disabled at the Lourexis/Alexia Manor, I was introduced to a wide array of nursing assistants,” said Rep. Brewer. “It is time to make an effort to recognize our healthcare heroes with Ohio Nursing Assistant Week.”
The bill now awaits further hearings in the House Health Provider Services Committee.
