Rep. Plummer Announces Passage of House Bill 277 on House Floor
COLUMBUS – The Ohio House today passed House Bill 277, which will require audio or audiovisual recordings of custodial interrogation for most major felonies, announced primary sponsor Representative Phil Plummer (R-Dayton).
This bipartisan legislation aims to decrease risk of wrongful conviction and increase public confidence in the professionalism and integrity of law enforcement.
“House Bill 277 is an important and necessary step we are taking to protect Ohioans and improve our criminal justice system,” said Representative Plummer.
This bill will increase public confidence in the professionalism and integrity of law enforcement agents, and protect those agents from false claims of misconduct, coercion, and brutality.
House Bill 277 will strengthen police and community relations.
