Plummer Introduces Catalytic Converter Legislation

State Representative Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) today introduced House Bill 210 – legislation that works to control and prevent issues pertaining to stolen catalytic converters.

“Catalytic converter theft has plagued our communities for some time,” said Representative Plummer. “This senseless crime creates a financial burden for both individuals and businesses in our community. It is now time to hold these individuals accountable.”

This legislation would enhance penalties for theft when the stolen property is a catalytic converter, enhance penalties for receiving stolen property when the property is a catalytic converter, and require scrap metal dealers to comply with recordkeeping and reporting requirements, amongst other changes.

House Bill 210 awaits further consideration in committee.
