Santucci Supports Override of Governor Veto of HB 68
COLUMBUS— State Rep. Nick Santucci (R-Howland Twp.) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.
Vetoed by the Governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.
Santucci released the following statement about the vote:
“HB68 is common-sense legislation that will protect impressionable young children from making irreversible decisions about their gender and ensure a level playing field for female student athletes,” Santucci said. “I urge my senate colleagues to join us in doing our duty to protect Ohio’s kids.”
