COLUMBUS—State Representative Nick Santucci (R- Howland Twp.) announced that more than $7.8 million will be coming to Trumbull County for community revitalization and park improvements.

The funds, released to the Ohio Department of Development by the Ohio Controlling Board Monday, will focus on improvements in Niles and Warren.

The City of Niles will receive $3.5 million to construct a boat launch within the downtown area to strengthen the connection to the riverfront below the South Main Street bridge into downtown. The City of Warren will receive more than $4.3 million to build a new pedestrian bridge over the Mahoning River, and fund improvements to Burbank, Bullhead, Packard, and Perkins Parks to include new walkways that interconnect the parks.

“This funding helps improve our communities here in Trumbull County. Making our public spaces safer and more attractive helps improves quality of life for our residents,” Santucci said. “I’m pleased to see these state dollars coming back to the district.”

The funding for the project is part of the state’s larger Appalachian Community Grant Program that invest in projects that to help create sustainable and transformational outcomes for Ohioans.
