Rep. Grim Announces Upcoming Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Weekend
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) today announced the upcoming back-to-school Ohio sales tax holiday that will take place starting on Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6. In 2018, state lawmakers passed legislation making this three-day, back-to-school sales tax holiday a recurring holiday each year.
“I am pleased to announce the yearly back-to-school Ohio sales tax holiday will be taking place this upcoming weekend. This tax-free weekend provides the opportunity for families to purchase the necessary school supplies to start the school year successfully, without the normally applied sales tax. I encourage families in the Toledo community and families across the state to take advantage of this weekend.” said Rep. Grim.
During the sales tax holiday, there will be no state or local sales or use tax on school and teaching materials that cost up to 20 dollars each. The exemption will also apply to certain items of clothing costing up to 75 dollars each.
