Rep. Skindell, Cuyahoga County State Legislative Delegation Send Letter In Support of IATSE Local 160
COLUMBUS– Today, Cleveland area state legislators sent a letter to the executive director of the Cleveland International Film Festival and the CEO of Playhouse Square in support of the hard workers of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 160.
For the second year in a row, Cleveland International Film Festival has notified IATSE 160 that they intend to use non-union workers to operate the projectors at the upcoming festival held at Playhouse Square and have been unwilling to negotiate this decision.
“Yet again, we are witnessing that the experienced and professional workers of IATSE 160 are being overlooked and underappreciated for their hard work and dedication to their craft,” said Rep. Skindell. “For many years, the projectionists have fulfilled their diligent duties for many events in Cleveland and they should be able to continue this role in the upcoming 2023 festival.”
Cleveland labor unions including, IATSE 160, were critical partners in saving Playhouse Square from demolition.
