Rep. Lawson-Rowe of Ohio House District 5 Sworn Into 136th General Assembly
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Meredith Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) Monday was sworn into the 136th Ohio General Assembly. Rep. Lawson-Rowe will be beginning her first term in the legislature, serving the people of Reynoldsburg, Groveport, and Canal Winchester at the Ohio Statehouse.
“I am humbled and honored to serve the people of House District 5 at the Ohio Statehouse,” said Rep. Lawson-Rowe. “I look forward to working across the aisle to advocate for my constituents and deliver for the district and the entire state of Ohio.”
Rep. Lawson-Rowe most recently served as president of the Reynoldsburg City Council, representing the Fourth Ward, and was one of the first three Black women simultaneously elected to the council in 2019. During her tenure with the council, Rep. Lawson-Rowe was an advocate for economic and infrastructure development in Reynoldsburg and created and chaired the annual Reynoldsburg Juneteenth celebration in 2020.
Rep. Lawson-Rowe also worked as an executive assistant to several top executive and senior level administrators for more than 25 years.
As a legislator, Rep. Lawson-Rowe’s top priorities are advocating for affordable and accessible housing, efficient infrastructure development, education, and supporting all children and families.
