Rep. Lawson-Rowe Celebrates Passage of Issue 2
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Meredith Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) released the following statement concerning Issue 2’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:
“The decisive passage of Issue 2 by voters Tuesday will ensure that all of our communities have the highest quality roads, bridges, and infrastructure, while spurring economic growth and an expanded workforce,” said Rep. Lawson-Rowe. “Most importantly, all of this will not raise a single tax for Ohioans.”
With Issue 2's approval, the State Capital Improvement Program will create tens of thousands of jobs and issue general obligation bonds up to $250 million annually, an increase from the current $200 million per year. Issue 2 will also help local governments with critical infrastructure projects. Ohioans first voted for the program as a lawmaker-backed constitutional amendment in 1987 and have since renewed it four times.
