Rep. Lawson-Rowe Announces Passage of State Capital Budget, Securing Vital Community Investments in House District 5

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Meredith Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) today announced the passage of Senate Bill 450, the state's biennial capital appropriations budget. The bill allocates nearly $4B for the maintenance, renovation, and construction of state-owned infrastructure, including colleges, universities, school districts, and other community projects.
The capital budget is the mechanism by which the state funds its brick-and-mortar needs. This ranges from the construction and renovation of K-12 public schools and higher education facilities to public works programs and mental health treatment centers, as well as funding local community projects. It includes funding for projects that expand access to healthcare, strengthen local economies, preserve cultural institutions, improve public infrastructure, and enhance quality of life for residents across the region.
Rep. Lawson-Rowe helped secure $1.6M for southeastern Franklin County.
“I am pleased to announce this direct investment into House District 5,” said Rep. Lawson-Rowe. “The projects funded through the capital bill will ensure residents in Reynoldsburg and beyond have continued access to a functional food pantry, provide necessary updates to historical areas in Canal Winchester, and will guarantee continued access to nature and recreation in south Columbus.”
The following projects within HD 5 are funded in SB 450:
- $200K for HEART Market and Resource Hub Pantry in Reynoldsburg
- $250K for McGill Park Old Town Connector in Canal Winchester
- $605K for improvements by the Canal Winchester Area Historical Society
- $500K for improvements at the Great Southern Metro Park in Columbus
SB 450 now heads to the governor's desk for his signature.
