Rep. Lawson-Rowe Announces $100K for Rickenbacker Army Base Renovations
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Meredith Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) today announced that the State Controlling Board approved Monday $100K for renovations to Rickenbacker Army Base in Franklin County.
“I am excited to announce this important funding that will be directly invested for the benefit of House District 5,” said Rep. Lawson-Rowe. “These funds will ensure that Rickenbacker Army Base can continue to function as a state-of-the-art, top military defense base in Ohio and our nation.”
Funding for this project is being appropriated from capital funds awarded in House Bill 2, the most recent state capital budget, which was passed into law last year.
This specific project will construct a soldier processing medical assessment facility, ADA compliant unisex restrooms, new office space, six medical and dental exam rooms, an X-ray room, additional waiting space, expanded restrooms, and will update paint, flooring, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and lighting throughout several buildings on the base.
Other approved items include:
- $31M increase in appropriation authority for the Ohio Department of Development to continue supporting brownfield clean-up projects through the Brownfield Remediation Program;
- $3.5M for Court of Claims to payout damages to three wrongfully imprisoned Ohioans; and
- $1M for Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) to purchase several laboratories to combat the avian flu.
