COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today condemned the passage of anti-voter Senate Bill (SB) 293 which places new burdens on voters by adding unnecessary hurdles to the voting process, shortening the time available for Ohioans to make their voices heard, and weakening essential accountability measures. 

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) Wednesday introduced legislation to protect unpaid interns. Ohio has long recognized the value of protecting employees from undue harassment and discrimination. However, these protections currently do not apply to unpaid interns. This bill seeks to apply the employment portions of the Ohio Civil Rights Law to unpaid interns.

Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine urging him to take action to help prevent the 1.4M Ohioans who could be left without the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments starting November 1st if the federal government shutdown continues past October 31st.

Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine, asking that he use the power granted to him by R.C. 4935.03 and declare an energy emergency in Youngstown, Ohio. Declaring an energy emergency would allow for immediate state intervention and expand the authority and resources Youngstown could pull from to correct this crisis. The goal would be to stabilize the system, ensure reliable heat for residents and businesses, and implement a long-term plan for oversight and accountability.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown)  and Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) Wednesday provided sponsor testimony in the House Energy Committee on House Bill (HB) 467, a bill banning public utilities from rate recovery for political expenditures, requiring greater political expenditure reporting, and fining utilities for violations. It is clear Ohio’s current regulatory framework has not worked in preventing previous violations which amounted to millions in illicit contributions. This bill’s goal is to change that, to be a guardrail and protect consumers from unnecessary riders and tariffs on their utility bills.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board this week approved two items under the Department of Development’s Ohio Housing Trust Fund for a combined $22M to combat homelessness in Ohio.

Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) and Michele Grim (D-Toledo) today introduced two new bills focused on protecting children in the entertainment industry: the Child Performer Protection Act and the Kid Influencer Protection Act. Both of these bills are meant to protect children in the entertainment industry, by making sure they have the support they need and are being compensated for their time and labor.
