Republicans Prioritize Censorship, Discrimination Over Freedoms, Economic Growth with SB 1's Passage

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today responded to the House passage of Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Higher Education Destruction Act: 

“I am very disappointed that SB 1 was rushed through the committee process and was passed by the House today. SB 1 is going to intensify our workforce issues in Ohio. This will make Ohio a less desirable place to learn and work. It undermines the ability to strike, it undermines the use of collective bargaining, and it undermines union rights. This is an attack on hard working professionals and an attack on students – they are being robbed of a well-rounded education. I hope the governor listens to the hundreds of people who gave opponent testimony and vetoes this legislation,” said Rep. McNally.

In trying to solve problems that do not exist, SB 1 creates new issues that will increase costs, stifle growth, and prevent Ohio’s young adults from reaching their full potential.
