COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today issued the following statement in response to ongoing and recent events related to the Tuesday, May 28th Realty building explosion on E. Federal Street in Youngstown that left one dead and nine injured.

“Our community still mourns the loss of life following the tragic events of May 28th. It can be absolutely devastating to lose a historic building, have a portion of our city shut down, and have people leaving their homes unplanned. People are experiencing a lot of uncertainty and in turn fear and sorrow about what is to come whether it’s their job or a place to live.  So long as the people of Youngstown are in this, I am too, and that is why my office is staying engaged and is committed to doing what we can from a state perspective to ease worry and distress,” said Rep. McNally.

“I am speaking with our city leadership and folks on the ground at the local level to ensure my knowledge is current. I am having ongoing conversations with various state departments that intersect with the mandatory evacuation of the apartment complex and the rehousing of our neighbors. Through my office, I will continue liaising with these state departments, keeping them up to date on what is happening in our community and available to help. Our community deserves that response and attentiveness and I’ll do my part to make sure Youngstown isn’t forgotten.”
