Rep. McNally Named to Ohio Democratic Women's Legislative Caucus Leadership Team for the 136th General Assembly
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced she will serve as secretary for The Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus (ODWLC) leadership team for the 136th General Assembly. The 136th General Assembly marks the first time in history women will make up half of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. After picking up two additional seats overall in the last election, Democrats now hold 34 total seats. Of those 34 seats, women made up 11 returning members and added 6 new women to get this moment in history.
“ODWLC is a testament to the strength of women coming together with purpose and passion. Especially at a time when our nation’s leaders seem to be hell bent on setting us back. By lifting each other up and standing for what’s right, we are creating a brighter, more equitable future—not just for ourselves, but for generations to come. I look forward to working with this caucus to uplift and amplify women’s voices in the statehouse and across Ohio,” said Rep. McNally. “I’m honored to have been elected to the leadership team by my peers, especially at a time where we need solidarity and strength more than ever.”
Elections were held Wednesday, January 22nd for all positions on the ODWLC executive committee. As Secretary, Rep. McNally will also serve on the Strategic Communications Standing Committee for the caucus.
The full executive ODWLC committee is:
Chair - Rep. Munira Abdullahi (D-Columbus)
Vice Chair - Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna)
Policy Chair - Rep. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati)
Secretary - Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown)
