Rep. McNally Calls for Action to Ensure Ohio's Rail Safety Following East Palestine Disaster
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown), along with members of the House Democratic Caucus, today sent a letter to the Ohio House Finance Committee and the Ohio House Transportation Subcommittee of Finance suggesting a series of amendments to the State Transportation Budget following the tragic events in East Palestine.
“Alongside my Democratic colleagues, we’ve been working both on the ground and in the background to ensure local needs are being met. These legislative solutions will focus on safety and responsiveness and are the direct product of that hard work we’ve been doing on behalf of the people of East Palestine,” said Rep. McNally. “These amendments will focus on prevention. We do not want another catastrophe like this in Ohio again.”
The Ohio House Finance Committee is scheduled to meet next on Tuesday, February 21st and the biennial Transportation Budget must be passed by Friday, March 31st.
