Rep. McNally Announces $58,700 in Grant Funding for Police Body Worn Cameras
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announces $58,700 from the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) Body Worn Camera Grant awarded to Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and Youngstown State University Police Department. The grant program provides appropriations for local police departments adhering to Ohio Collaborative’s body-worn camera standard.
“Grants like these are so important in helping strengthen our local safety forces. I appreciate that the state prioritizes programs like this so that our local law enforcement officials can be properly equipped to make communities safer,” said Rep. McNally.
Grant funding will be spread amongst these organizations:
- Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office - $17,152.00
- Youngstown State University Police Department - $41,548.00
OCJS received $14.4 million in grant requests for this funding round. Priority was given to agencies establishing new body-worn camera programs, while remaining funds were allocated to upgrades, expanded storage, and personnel for video record retention.
