Rep. McNally Announces $30K to Mahoning Valley Sheriff's Office in RecoveryOhio Funding
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the Mahoning Valley Sheriff’s Office has received $300K in grant funding from the RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund. This program is meant to support local drug task forces and aid in their work to disrupt the drug trade and promote substance use awareness, prevention, and recovery.
“Helping combat illegal drug use is a two-pronged approach- we have to focus on recovery and education but we also have to make sure that more illegal and harmful drugs are not being sold. I know the Mahoning Valley Sheriff’s Office will work diligently and use this money well,” said Rep. McNally.
This set of grants was awarded to 34 existing drug task forces to help officers identify high-level drug traffickers, dismantle large drug trafficking organizations, interrupt the flow of money and drugs from international cartels, and prevent the sale of illegal narcotics.
Funding for this program was secured in the biennial budget and the program is administered by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
