Rep. McNally Announces $30,142.03 in State Grants for Local Volunteer Fire Departments
COLUMBUS- State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced the awarding of state funds from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry for six local volunteer fire departments as part of their Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant program.
“Supporting our local governments is a top priority of mine,” said Rep. McNally. “Making sure that they are being connected with and receiving state funds is paramount to their ability to provide continued local services.”
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) grant program focuses on helping fire departments acquire wildland fire equipment such as UTVs, ATVs, wildfire slip-in units, PPE, MARCS communication devices, and other items that support rural fire department development. Fire departments located within the ODNR Forestry Wildfire Protection Areas are eligible to apply for VFA grants of up to $10,000.00 each.
Departments within and around District 59 that received ODNR grants, total $30,142.03 in state investment include:
- $4,274.99 for the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Association Inc.
- $6,188.50 for the Winona Fire Department Inc.
- $4,350.00 for the Beloit Fire Department
- $1,854.04 for the Coitsville Fire Department
- $4,920.00 for the Damascus Fire Department Inc.
- $8,554.50 for the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department
