COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board this week approved two items under the Department of Development’s Ohio Housing Trust Fund for a combined $22M to combat homelessness in Ohio.
“Unfortunately, there has been an increase in homelessness in the Mahoning Valley. This state intervention is coming at an important time, and I hope we can use these resources to help create sustainable housing support,” said Rep. McNally.
The items approved Monday were:
- Item #35: $8M awarded to the Supportive Housing Program, a program that provides opportunity for stable, long-term housing for people who are homeless through supportive housing operations.
- Item #36: $14M awarded to the Homeless Crisis Response Program, a program established to better meet the needs of Ohio’s homeless persons.
Nonprofit agencies, units of local government, and public housing authorities can find more information and how to apply for these programs by contacting the Office of Housing Support at ohs@development.ohio.gov.
