Rep. McNally announces $1,651,370 in additional Ohio State Penitentiary funding
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $1,651,370 from the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) for the Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) located in Youngstown.
“This project is another step in the right direction for the upkeep of the Ohio State Penitentiary,” said Rep. McNally. “It is important that we routinely assess and continue to improve the conditions of the penitentiary moving forward. We have to chip away at any and all ongoing issues.”
Opened in 1998, the OSP currently houses approximately 494 incarcerated persons. The funding request to ODRC will support construction services for the Food Service Floor Replacement Project. The work consists of the replacement of food service flooring, changing of the existing epoxy floor with quarry tile, camera inspection for all floor drains, inspections of the grease interceptor to decide if replacements or updates are needed, and assessment of food service equipment for possible removal or reinstallation.
The work will be performed by the Prout Boiler Heating & Welding, Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio, in Mahoning County. $1,535,000 are allocated for construction services, $111,870 for allowances and change order fees, and $4,500 for local admin fees.
