Rep. McNally Announces $13.3 million for YSU's Kilcawley Center
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the State Controlling Board approved $13,288,441.00 in funding as part of the Kilcawley Center Renovations project for Youngstown State University (YSU). YSU is using the project funding to renovate one of the most heavily used buildings on campus; proposed improvements include addressing a large, deferred maintenance backlog, and replacing aging building systems. YSU is also planning to reorganize existing spaces within the Kilcawley Center, addressing accessibility, safety, and health concerns. The funding is part of a wider appropriations bill, from the 135th General Assembly, funding other institutions of higher education, as well as other projects across the state.
“Students at Youngstown State University are a huge part of our state’s future,” said Rep. McNally. “With these renovations, YSU will be more competitive among prospective college students. I am happy to see these investments in Ohio’s future workforce.”
The Controlling Board also approved a transfer of $871,237.50 from the Maag Library Learning Commons project to the Kilcawley Center Renovations project appropriations.
