COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that The John J. McDonough Museum of Art has been awarded $12,640 from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) as part of a sustainability grant. The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically and tries to be a leader and voice for the arts to transform people and communities.

“The John J. McDonough Museum is a great supporter of new and emerging artists. I am so proud that the Ohio Arts Council has recognized their work and is helping them foster the next generation of artists,” said Rep. McNally.

"It is truly wonderful for the McDonough Museum of Art to be recognized for our cultural efforts and programming by the premier state agency for the arts. We are grateful that the arts continue to be strongly supported by our governor and state representatives. This sustainability grant from the Ohio Arts Council allows us to support great artists in their professional artistic endeavors and to create programming that engages the University and regional community," said Claudia Berlinski, Director of McDonough Museum of Art.

The John J. McDonough Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum on the campus of Youngstown State University. They are planning on using the grant money to help with their Emerging Artist Series, which is a series to create opportunities for new and emerging visual and performing/performance artists.  The gallery is open from 11:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
