COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) Wednesday announced that the Ohio Department of Development approved $1.1M in grants for their Recovery Housing Program. This included $109,678 for Mahoning County to assist 121 Ohioans in recovery by providing safe and structured sober housing options.

“Housing is such an important factor when we are looking at creating stability in someone’s life. This program provides that support and stability to those who are truly trying to better themselves. It is an important program and an important step to Ohio fully recovering from the opioid crisis,” said Rep. McNally.

This is federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by the state through the Department of Development. Local ADAMH boards receive the grants and use the money to help support housing efforts.

The Recovery Housing Program provides rental subsidies for individuals in recovery with incomes at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income. The goal of the program is to provide transitional housing while residents work to rebuild their lives and establish long term stability.
