Rep. Glassburn Named Ohio Energy Champion by Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund

COLUMBUS –State Rep. Chris Glassburn (D-North Olmsted) today has announced that the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund has named him its Ohio Energy Champion. This award recognizes Rep. Glassburn’s leadership as the former ranking member of the House Energy Committee and his instrumental role in passing House Bill (HB) 15. This legislation is Ohio’s most transformative energy bill in decades, representing a sweeping reform of the state’s energy landscape, designed to increase grid capacity and transparency between utility providers and consumers.
“For too long, Ohioans have paid the price for a system that was fundamentally broken,” said Rep. Glassburn. “I am proud to have fought for the reliability standards our communities deserve. By empowering the Public Utility Commission of Ohio to hold utilities accountable, slow bill increases for consumers, and eliminate corruption-era subsidies, we are finally taking the necessary steps to ensure reliable and affordable energy for everyone.”
The Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and health of all Ohio communities through policy advocacy, decision-maker accountability, and civic engagement. The Ohio Energy Champion Award is presented to leaders who demonstrate courage, creativity, and a commitment to delivering meaningful environmental and economic results for the state.
Rep. Glassburn was honored alongside Chair Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) in recognition of the bipartisan effort demonstrated by the House Energy Committee to craft legislation that modernizes Ohio’s grid and increases energy production.
“This award highlights our joint commitment to a more reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy future for all Ohioans. I look forward to continuing this important work with my colleagues,” said Rep. Glassburn.
Rep. Glassburn is optimistic about continued progress, with a key priority being securing final passage of HB 303 in the Senate to launch the state's community energy pilot program. Simultaneously, he remains dedicated to advancing HB 427 through the House Energy Committee to give residential and small-business consumers greater control over their energy costs through demand-response programs.
