Rep. Humphrey Condemns Assault on City Workers in Whitehall
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D-Columbus) today issued a statement strongly condemning the recent assault on city workers in Whitehall during the painting of crosswalks in support of Pride Month.
"This behavior is unacceptable," said Rep. Humphrey. "Everyone deserves to feel safe at work, and it's disturbing to see people targeted for trying to make our community more inclusive. We must stand together against such behavior."
The incident, which involved violence against individuals simply carrying out their duties to enhance community inclusivity, is deeply concerning. No one should face physical harm or intimidation for participating in efforts to promote diversity and acceptance.
Rep. Humphrey emphasizes that such acts of violence have no place in our society and go against the values of tolerance and respect. It is crucial that we stand together in denouncing these actions and reaffirm our commitment to creating safe and welcoming environments for all.
“While recognizing the importance of constructive dialogue and differing perspectives, resorting to violence is never an acceptable means of expressing disagreement or dissent. The LGBTQ+ community, like all communities, deserves to be treated with dignity and understanding,” continued Rep. Humphrey.
Rep. Humphrey extends support to the affected city workers and urges law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
