State Representative Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) is pleased to share that the month of September officially marks the beginning of Ohio’s fall hunting season.

“Hunting provides Ohioans the chance to come together to strengthen familial ties and bonds of friendship while learning lessons about responsible firearm use, thoughtful game management, and respect for all of God’s creation,” said Ritter. “Hunting season brings together people from diverse generational, economic, and cultural backgrounds. It deepens our culture and makes Ohio a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Ohio 2025 hunting season opening dates are as follows:

Monday, September 1, 2025

  • Squirrel (fox, red, and gray)
  • Dove
  • Rail (Virginia and sora)
  • Snipe
