Rep. Kevin Ritter Highlights Federal Natural Disaster Relief for Ohio Farmers
State Representative Kevin Ritter(R-Marietta) today announced that the USDA Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) application is now open. This program provides critical financial assistance to farmers impacted by natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. A total of $16 billion in federal funding is available.
“The relief represents a strong step toward recovery from last year’s drought,” said Ritter. “I would like to thank former-Representative Don Jones for his efforts to get this assistance available to our farmers in Southeast Ohio.”
Eligible producers include those who suffered losses as result of natural disaster occurring in calendar years 2023 and or 2024. These disasters include the following:
- Wildfires
- Hurricanes
- Floods
- Derechos
- Excessive heat
- Tornadoes
- Winter storms
- Freeze (including a polar vortex)
- Smoke exposure
- Excessive moisture
- Qualifying drought, and related conditions.
To apply for SDRP, producers must submit the FSA-526, Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) Stage One Application, in addition to having other forms on file with FSA.
