Bremen, Utica Awarded Water Infrastructure Grants
COLUMBUS –State Representatives Kevin Miller (R-Newark) is pleased to announce that the villages of Bremen and Utica will receive an Ohio BUILDS (Broadband, Utilities, and Infrastructure for Local Development Success) Water Infrastructure Grant.
The village of Bremen, located in Fairfield County, will receive a $739,821 grant to make improvements at the local water facility. The project includes well cleanout, valve replacements, improved meters, and the installation of an Arlo security system.
Additionally, the village of Utica, located in Licking County, will receive a $3 million grant for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant. Changes include installing a new headworks pump station that will be able to handle the village’s water flow.
“The grants awarded by Ohio BUILDS will help local water infrastructure plants increase their efficiency and better serve residents in the community,” said Miller. “These investments will help the villages of Bremen and Utica for years to come and will help create future economic opportunities.”
During the fifth round of allocations, the Ohio BUILDS Program awarded a total of $135 million that will fund infrastructure projects throughout 64 Ohio counties.
The Ohio BUILDS water infrastructure program is a continuation of the H2Ohio initiative launched in 2019. The Ohio House of Representatives last month passed the State Operating Budget for fiscal years 2024-25, which includes a $60 million investment each fiscal year into H2Ohio to support water quality efforts across the state.
