Reps. Brent recognizes International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
COLUMBUS– State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) today recognizes International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. In 2021, Rep. Brent cosponsored House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 6 that declares racism a public health crisis and calls for a working group to address the issue.
“This is the second General Assembly that HCR 6 has been introduced, and it has only had one committee hearing in the Ohio House. We must address the laws that continue to allow racism in housing, education, criminal justice, employment and so many other areas,” said Rep. Brent. “The past two years of the pandemic have amplified the disparities that already existed in our society and brought forth a powerful call to action that demands justice. We must heed the voice of the people and make systemic changes that address the ongoing issue of racial discrimination.”
