Rep. Juanita O. Brent votes for transportation budget, says there is still a need for increased public transit funding
Today, Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) released the following statement following the House’s concurrence with the $8.3 billion transportation budget.
“The Senate brought some much-needed improvements to the transportation budget,” said Representative Brent. “While I voted no on this bill when it was first before us previously in the House, I voted in favor of the Senate amendments today because they added necessary money for public transportation, which improves the quality of life for all Ohioans. Guaranteeing that all Ohioans have transportation to get to school, work, the doctor, and more is vital.
“However, we still have a lot of work to do and this budget does not go as far as it should in public transportation funding. Making investments in public transit is making investments in Ohio’s future, both of which are desperately needed.”
Rep. Brent voted to concur with the Senate amendments on the transportation budget, which passed the Ohio House with a vote of 86-8 on March 25, 2021. The budget now heads to Governor DeWine’s desk for his signature.
