Rep. Brent criticizes House passage of Senate Bill 111
State Representative Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) released the subsequent statement following the House’s passage of Senate Bill 111. This legislation directs $844 million in federal funding to local governments, including townships.
“This bill will take away almost half of the American Rescue Plan Funding previously planned to be distributed to cities and villages. Funding townships is admirable, but when it’s to the detriment of local governments that urgently need their fair share of funding, it’s unacceptable,” said Rep. Brent.
“This bill is made worse by a bad amendment that will harm our communities. By prohibiting public and private entities from requiring COVID-19 vaccines, this will undermine public health and Ohio’s recovery from the pandemic.”
For these reasons, Rep. Brent voted no on SB 111.
