Gross Drops Resolution Mourning the Lives Lost to Abortion

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) today announced she has introduced a House Resolution establishing a statewide “Day of Tears” mourning the millions of lives lost to abortion.

“As a pro-life state, we must continue advocating for the innocent,” said Gross. “Together we must demonstrate that in Ohio, we value life and it is our mission to protect the unborn.”

The resolution will mark January 22 as the “Day of Tears.” On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court, in its Roe v. Wade decision, declared a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion under the Fourteenth Amendment. In 2020 alone, 20,605 abortions were reported in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

“This resolution expresses the mourning of such a grim day in our history,” said Gross. “My hope is that in recognizing January 22 as a day of mourning, citizens across Ohio will lower their flags to half-staff honoring the innocent lives lost to abortion.”

Currently, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama have passed similar resolutions.
