COLUMBUS - State Representative Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) announces Berkley Insurance Company will be expanding their operations in West Chester Township after receiving the latest round of Job Creation Tax Credits recently.

The Berkley Insurance Company expects to create 29 full-time positions. This addition will generate more than $3 million in new annual payroll and retain more than $2.4 million in existing payroll. The Berkley Insurance Company is a Fortune 500 company that underwrites property and casualty commercial insurance, specializing in commercial excess and surplus lines across the U.S.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) approved a 1.624%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the Berkley Insurance Company’s project.

“Ohio is open for business,” Gross said. “This announcement is another example of District 45 being one of the best for job creation and development in the entire state. I am proud of Berkley Issuance Company’s expansion in West Chester. I wish them further success and am excited to witness their future accomplishments.”

This approval is part of an assistance program recently announced by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted. The program is set to create 209 new jobs and retain 356 jobs statewide. Likewise, the TCA reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $13.4 million in new payroll and spur more than $55.6 million in investments across Ohio.
