Little Miami Bike Trail Bridge to Reopen for Summer

COLUMBUS – State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) today announced the Little Miami Scenic Trail Bridge in Loveland will remain open through the summer. The Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) had announced it was going to close the trail for repair from May to October.

Representative Schmidt called the ODNR director and requested the repairs be moved to the fall.  

“I know firsthand the economic importance this trail contributes to the merchants in Loveland,” Schmidt said. “During the summer thousands visit the town as they bike, run, or walk the trail.  Closing the bridge during the busiest season would hurt their economy”

After meeting with members of ODNR it was decided that the repair would be moved to the fall. ODNR, in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), will continue to monitor and inspect the bridge as it prepares for the construction phase of the project.

“I am delighted with ODNR’S decision,” Schmidt added. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the trail.  We are fortunate to have this resource running through our community”.
