House Committee Hears from Proponents on Bill to Rebuild Goshen's Fire Station
COLUMBUS—The House Finance Committee yesterday continued hearings on House Bill 244, which will appropriate funding to repair the fire department building located in Goshen, Ohio, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland). The legislation received significant proponent testimony from 19 individuals.
Specifically, the bill will allocate 2.5 million to Goshen Township to rebuild the fire department building that was destroyed due to a tornado that went through Goshen in July of last year. The department is currently working out of a trailer home.
“This legislation is critical for public safety and will also improve the working conditions of our well-deserving first responders,” said Schmidt. “I look forward to seeing this bill move swiftly through the committee process with widespread support so Goshen can begin the process of rebuilding and get back on its feet.”
House Bill 244 will continue to receive hearings in the House Finance Committee.
