Callender Co-Chairs Finance Committee, First Committee Hearing as the Ohio House Returns
Yesterday, State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) had the opportunity to co-chair the House Finance Committee. The body was the first standing legislative committee to convene since the Legislature was last in session due to the shutdown back in March amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“I was proud to serve as co-chair of the Finance Committee as the House is resuming its work to move forward with our legislative duty,” said Callender. “It shows the Finance Committee is leading the charge as we get back to work in making very important decisions for the people of Ohio.”
Taking into account people’s health and well-being, members and staff of the committee ensured they were social distancing and wearing masks during the meeting.
The committee met to have its sixth hearing on House Bill 388, which focuses on addressing the issue of out-of-network health care. The bill had its first committee hearing back in November last year, and the issue continues to be prevalent as more concerns regarding out-of-network care have arisen due to coronavirus testing.
“I want the people of Lake County to know there have been hours of behind the scenes work happening at the Statehouse,” said Callender. “Whether it’s dealing with issues surrounding the coronavirus or other legislative work, please be assured, the members of the House are committed to getting things accomplished in the upcoming weeks for all Ohioans.”
