State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) was recognized today by the Alliance for Working Together (AWT) at their annual meeting as an AWT Manufacturing Hero for his strong advocacy for STEM to career manufacturing education and training.
“I am deeply honored to have received this recognition,” said Callender. “The work being done by AWT to help create opportunities for our students and workers is truly outstanding and I consider it a great privilege to be able to play a part in their mission.”
The AWT Foundation is a 501-c (3) non-profit, dedicated to promoting rewarding manufacturing careers. AWT is a coalition of education, business, social services, and community leaders focused on aligning the learning system with the needs of the business community to support economic growth.
At their annual meeting today which was held by video conference, the AWT hosted and heard from a number of public officials and manufacturing leaders about the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and workforce training.
“In our current position in Northeast Ohio, education and job training are so important to ensure our workers are able to compete and our students are equipped for jobs that exist both today and into the future,” Callender said.
Rep. Callender has long been a staunch advocate of STEM education and training to boost our economy and change the lives of young people for the better. As a member of the State Legislature, Callender has successfully fought to secure resources to assist AWT in accomplishing their goals. This includes securing funding to support their STEM education programs.
