Rep. Ismail Mohamed sworn in as state representative for Ohio House District 3

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Ismail Mohamed (D-Columbus) took the oath of office during the opening session of the 135th Ohio General Assembly at the Ohio Statehouse Tuesday, officially beginning Mohamed’s term as state representative for Ohio House District 3.

“As a refugee/immigrant, I am humbled for the opportunity to serve as a member of the 135th General Assembly and to be able to work tirelessly to ensure that we as Americans and Ohioans are living up to our aspirations as a nation of compassion and to ring true the words inscribed in the statue of liberty ‘Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,’” said Rep. Mohamed.

Rep. Mohamed outlined his top legislative priorities for the 135th General Assembly, which include:

· Small business development

· Affordable housing and public safety

· High-quality and equitable education
