Manning Supports Workforce-Based Training Funding for Lorain County Community College
State Rep. Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) supports funding for Lorain County Community College approved on Monday by the State Controlling Board. The measure totals $226,571 for workforce-based training and Equipment for the college.
“As a former educator who has supported many education-based initiatives at the Statehouse, I’m proud to continue to provide significant funding for higher education at LCCC in my district,” said Manning. “This will help enhance our workforce training for students so they can have the skills they need for jobs of the future here in Ohio.”
Manning supported the project through House Bill 687, which is known as the capital budget approved by the General Assembly and signed into law last year.
The funding represents LCCC's portion of the RAPIDS capital appropriation, which addresses the Cyber and Information Security (CYBR) equipment needs and instruction. LCCC has developed an educational pipeline for individuals seeking Industry 4.0 skills in the fields of electronics, electrical, and mechanics and includes the interaction and control of motors, computers, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The equipment will be used to equip and implement a Security Operations Center (SOC) that will provide real-world interactive skills to students.
The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6.
