COLUMBUS – The Ohio Controlling Board Monday approved the release of $74,779.20 to be used by the Ohio Department of Youth Services to make improvements to the Lorain County Detention Center, announced Speaker Pro Tempore Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville)

The funding will be used to update security equipment in the control room, ensuring the safety of staff and residents.

“These updates will make the staff feel safer coming to work every day, while simultaneously improving the safety of the residents and overall facility operations,” said Manning.

Manning also highlighted the approval of $8 million in funding for workforce-based training and equipment throughout the state, $179,131.15 of which was directed to Lorain County Community College. By investing in capital equipment and facilities, this funding aims to equip students to meet the current and future workforce needs of high-demand industries in Ohio.

“Our students are the future of our state, and we have a responsibility to best prepare them to be successful in the workforce,” said Manning. “There is no doubt this funding will elevate the learning experiences and training of our future workforce.”
