Controlling Board Approves LCCC Funding for Workforce Based Training
State Rep. Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) announces that earlier today, the State Controlling Board approved $182,819 to Lorain County Community College (LCCC) for the purpose of Workforce Based Training and Equipment Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) project in Lorain County.
“I’m thankful today of the Controlling Board’s approval on this measure as it is important that we continue to invest both in our workforce and educational opportunities, even as we all continue to face the challenges of this pandemic,” said Manning.
The funding will go toward both the automation and digital fabrication programs in requesting a FiberCab laser cutting system from Vinyl Technologies Inc. (Vytek Laser Systems). The automation engineering technologies degrees give students the experience of working with automated equipment, which is used within the robotics and computer numerical control equipment (CNC) industries.
While several other companies did submit bids, Vytek met the requirements of the program while also being the most cost-effective solution.
The programs also will receive support from local businesses within Lorain County such as AgriNomix and AJ Rose Manufacturing Co. as they will provide internships for the students.
