Rep. Melanie Miller Appointed to Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission

State Representative Melanie Miller (R–Ashland) was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine on July 10th to serve on the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission, which is dedicated to advancing Holocaust and genocide education, promoting remembrance, and advising state leaders on issues related to genocide awareness and prevention.

“I applaud Governor DeWine for appointing Representative Melanie Miller to the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission,” said Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima). “Representative Miller’s leadership and commitment will make her an important voice in encouraging remembrance and advancing education for future generations.”

In September 2025, Rep. Miller was invited on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel and the Consulate General of Israel in New York to participate in 50 States One Israel, a historic bipartisan delegation uniting state legislators from across the United States. Hosted in Jerusalem and TelAviv, the conference aimed to strengthen ties between the United States and Israel. As part of the visit, she toured Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center.

The Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission was established in December 2020 through legislation and consists of 15 members appointed by the Governor. The Commission is charged with gathering and disseminating Holocaust and genocide educational resources and promoting awareness of issues relating to the Holocaust and genocide while advising state government officials on these relevant issues.
