COLUMBUS – State Representative Gary Click (R-Vickery) has released the following statement Monday about the East Palestine train-derailment contaminants being disposed in Sandusky County.

The full statement is below:

“Like many of you, I am waking up to the news that contaminated water from the East Palestine train derailment is being transported to Vickery, Ohio for disposal. I am very disappointed not to have received advanced notice of this. I visited the facility first thing this morning and spoke with the operations manager. Governor Mike DeWine graciously took my phone call earlier this morning. I have also spoken to our Sandusky County commissioners and I am in communication with the EPA and other stakeholders. At this point, I have more questions than answers. However, I want to assure the residents of Sandusky County that I am engaged and demanding the answers they deserve.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers have been with our fellow Buckeyes from East Palestine since day one. We fully understand that there is a problem that needs immediate resolution. However, we also understand that Vickery Environmental sits within the Lake Erie Basin Watershed. My task is to ensure that we do not simply relocate a problem from one side of Ohio to another, but that we actually resolve the problem.  The citizens of Sandusky County deserve to have forthright and immediate answers to their questions and concerns. I am committed to advocating for those answers with every resource at my disposal.”
